The Etsy listing checklist

1. Photos — how to shoot them

• First photo is bright, sharp, and reads clearly as a small thumbnail (it wins the click).
• Show scale, detail, and the item in use or in a real setting.
• Every variation (color, size) has its own photo.
• Used as many of the 10 photo slots as you usefully can, plus a video if you have one.

2. Title — how to write it

• Your single strongest keyword phrase is in the first few words.
• Reads like real words a shopper would type — not a comma-stuffed keyword dump.
• Uses the room without wasting it (up to 140 characters).

3. Tags — how to choose all 13

• All 13 tags are filled — no blanks.
• Every tag is a multi-word phrase (single words are too competitive), up to 20 characters.
• Tags cover different phrases, not 13 versions of the same one — and include some low-competition long-tail. (Free keyword tool.)

4. Category & attributes

• Most specific correct category is selected.
• Every relevant attribute is filled (color, material, occasion, size) — shoppers filter by these and Etsy ranks on them.

5. Description — how to write it

• First line or two hook the reader and repeat the main keyword (it's what Google shows).
• Answers the obvious questions: size, material, how personalization works, when it ships.
• Reads well — not a wall of text, not emoji-flooded, not shouting in caps.

6. Price — how to price

• Price covers materials, labor, Etsy's fees, and a real profit. (Fee calculator.)
• Checked what similar listings charge — you're competitive without underselling.

7. Shipping — how to set it up

• Shipping price is competitive — free shipping (or free over $35) where the numbers still work.
• Processing time is accurate and as short as you can honestly make it.

8. Variations & personalization — how they work

• All versions of the product are on this one listing as variations (not split into duplicates).
• If you personalize, the field is on with clear instructions for the buyer.

9. Shop completeness & policies

• Return/exchange policy and processing times are set so buyers know what to expect.
• Shop has an icon, banner, About section, and more than a couple of listings — it looks real.

10. Final check

• Ran a quick SEO check on the listing or shop. (Free shop audit.)
• Everything reads well on a phone — most Etsy shoppers are on mobile.
